<p>A combustion burner includes a housing (220) secured to the top of a water heater (10), a gas tube (230) in fluid communication with a source of gas and depending vertically from the housing (220) and positioned within a heat exchange tube (120) of the water heater (10). The ignition assembly (245) depends vertically from the top of the housing through the gas tube (230) and into the heat exchange tube. An angled nozzle (250), extending from the housing, transports air from an air blower (14) through the housing and into an annulus (254) defined between the exterior of the annular chamber and the interior of the heat exchange tube. A deflector plate (270) having a first and second series of slots (274, 280) enables the production of a long narrow flame within the heat exchange tube. A removable air restrictor plate (260) positioned within the angled nozzle accelerates the air through the housing, thereby enabling the burner to achieve different thermal ratings without altering the air blower output.</p> |
