PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having a great charge/ discharge capacity and being resistant against a high current density by including an active substance containing Li and Si in an electrode in a specific ratio. SOLUTION: An electrode, particularly, a negative electrode includes a compound expressed by a general formula Lix Si [wherein (x) is 0 to 4] at a ratio of 15-100% per volume of the electrode. A positive electrode is made of substance containing lithium, particularly, lithium containing transition metal oxide. An electrolytic substance is a nonaqueous electrolyte where lithium salt is dissolved in an organic solvent, e.g. propylene carbonate. The negative electrode includes a conducting agent, a binder or a filler, as necessary, in addition of the above-described active substance. An electron conductive material, which is free from decomposition or denaturalization, is suitable for the conducting agent, and preferable, graphite is used. Starch or the like is used as the binder. The filler may be of a fiber type which is free from a chemical change, and preferably, polypropylene is used. |
