In a plant for transmitting electric power between a direct voltage network (1) and an alternating voltage network (5) through a station (4) a converter (8) of a station has two current valves (9, 10) connected in series and having each one breaker (12, 13) of turn-on and turn-off type and a diode (14, 15) connected in anti-parallel therewith. Members (17) are adapted to detect the direction and the intensity of the current through the converter as well as through which current valve it flows.
