PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection-type liquid crystal display device which reproduces an arbitrary color like red, blue, or green as a color having high color purity, obtains satisfactory contrast and realizes high display quality. SOLUTION: An optical modulation layer 13 which changes the light scattering state by impressing a voltage between electrode faces, one or more kinds of color separation layers 20 arranged at the rear of the optical modulation layer 13, and a reflection layer 30 provided at the rear of color separation layers 20 are provided. The optical modulation layer 13 consists of a polymer distributed liquid crystal layer of a polymer network type and a phase change- type liquid crystal layer, and a color separation mirror consists of a cholesteric liquid crystal polymer layer, which has a characteristic to selectively reflect light in a specific wavelength range of the visible ray region, and a dielectric multilayered thin film. Further, an anti-refection layer and an ultrasonic shielding layer are arranged on surfaces of electrodes. |
