PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a paper-making cloth by spirally winding a woven cloth strip having a width narrower than the desired cloth width and provide a paper-making cloth produced by this process. SOLUTION: The woven cloth strip 16 is provided with lateral fringes 34, 36 having yarns of longitudinal and lateral directions and extending along at least one of lateral edges 30, 32. The lateral fringes 34, 36 are non-jointed end of the lateral yarns extending beyond the lateral edges 30, 32. During the spiral winding of the woven cloth strip 16 having fringes, the lateral fringes 34, 36 in one turn of the cloth is overlapped above or below the adjacent one turn of woven cloth strip 16. The lateral edges of the adjacent turns are brought into contact with each other. The spirally continuing sewn part 20 formed by this process is closed by the ultrasonic welding or bonding of the lateral fringes 34, 36 to the adjacent one-turn of the woven cloth strip 16. |
