Finger protection arrangement for pressure rollers in press printer

The gap between a pair of rollers rotating in contact with each other is fitted on the input side with a special pressure strip (4). This has pressure sensitive touch strips (13) along each edge which activate failsafe switches when touched, to switch off the roller drive. No mechanically moving components are required. The touch strips are positioned close to the rollers, less than 6 mm, and are also useful in switching off the roller drive if the print web loosens on a roller. The touch strips are linked to a control which processes the signals to identify if any object touches the strip and activates an immediate shut down of the roller drive.
