Disclosed is a patient monitoring system, sepcially for orthopedics, which is designed to be used by non-specialized medical staff and which informs them on exercises and activities carried out by them. To this end, a sensor array (1) is provided whose sensor signals are stored in a first storage (3) and compared with the contents of a second storage (7) (ideal signal pattern). The results of said comparison are made available for the user through display means (11, 12) or also through biofeedback (13).
