[Also in Division G2] Tetramethyl ammonium pyrosulphite is made by bubbling gaseous SO 2 through tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide in methanol and evaporating the solvent. Tetramethyl ammonium bisulphite is obtained by dissolving the pyrosulphite in water. Tetramethyl ammonium sulphite is obtained by dissolving the bisulphite in aqueous alkali.
