Process and equipment for sulphur removal from flue gas by a wet method in a wash column are claimed. The fluid is introduced through sets of nozzles (13) which form spray patterns (14), arranged in parallel paths (15) with gaps (16) between them. Gas is drawn into the sprays, mixed with the fine droplets and expelled into the gaps (16) to form turbulent flows (18) which overlay the main gas stream.
