摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image pickup device simple in constitution by turning plural lenses into the optical fibers of equal length whose refractive index is enlarged from a peripheral part to a center part. SOLUTION: Instead of a lens group comprising the plural lenses in this stereoscopic image pickup device, the lens group is constituted by using the plural optical fibers 21. That is, the optical fibers 21 provided with refractive index distribution (graded index distribution) for which the refractive index is enlarged from the peripheral part to the center part are used as the optical fibers 21. Thus, light made incident on the respective optical fibers 21 is not leaked to the outside of the fibers and interference mutually between the optical fibers is eliminated. Further, the light inside the fibers meanders by the refractive index distribution of the optical fibers 21 and is image-formed at a certain specified point PT1 and the light emitted from the end face 21a of the optical fiber advances straight in an emitting direction and is image- formed at a point PT2 . At this point, the length of the respective optical fibers 21 is turned to the length for forming the erect image of an object on an emission end face and arraying is performed so as to two-dimensionally arrange respective light incidence/emission end faces on the same plane.
