PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator for an air bag constraining an occupant at the time of an automobile collision so as to be able to reduce an injury to the occupant. SOLUTION: A gas generator for an air bag is used for an air bag system for protecting an occupant at the time of an automobile collision and provided with mechanism for releasing gas, pressure-accumulated in a container 1, at the time of the gas generator being actuated. In such a generator, a plurality of chamber structure partitioned by partition walls 2, 4 cleavable by pressure are provided in the container 1, and inflammable gas to be an inflammable mixture at the time of mixing, and supporting gas are separately filled in at least two chambers, adjacent with the partition walls 2, 4 in between, out of chamber structure. The gas generator is further provided with a cleavage means 3 that can pierce the partition walls 2, 4 between both chambers at the time of the gas generator being actuated, and an ignition means 5 igniting after mixing of gas. |
