PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute an electronic mail automatically to inform the arrival of a facsimile document to a plurality of recipient users by utilizing a FAX server independently of a form of a FAX transmission slip even in the case of conventional FAX transmission. SOLUTION: The method uses a FAX server to operate an electronic mail system so as to serve a transmission reception service to a plurality of client computers. The server is provided with p character recognition conversion section 6 that recognizes characters from image data of a received FAX transmission slip and converts the characters into a text image file and with an address extract section 8 that extracts an address based on the text image file. Furthermore, an electronic mail automatic distribution section is made up of an extracted character string storage table 10 that stores a character string of the address extracted by the address extract section 8, an electronic mail address retrieval section 11 that references an electronic mail address table 12 to retrieve an electronic mail address of a recipient, an electronic mail generating section 13 that generates an electronic mail to the located recipient, and an electronic mail transmission section 14 or the like that transmits the generated electronic mail. |
