A method for cleaning capillary fibres which have a semipermeable wall and are built into a dialysis filter provides that a wash liquid is passed from the outside through the wall of the capillary fibres and is lead off at one end of the capillary fibres. With current dialysis filters this can be achieved by feeding the wash liquid through one dialysate connection and leading off through one blood connection. The remaining connections for dialysate and blood remain sealed during this. To increase the cleaning effect, the connections opened in a first phase are closed in a second phase and accordingly the connections closed in the first phase are now opened.
