A stamping press has a pair of plates (12, 18) defining a press gap (24) between them, a hydraulic ram (16) to produce relative movement between the plates to close the press gap and apply pressure to the die to press the die against a substrate in the gap, a hydraulic pump (62) driven by an electric motor (60) through a flywheel (61) means for shutting off the motor on reaching a predetermined pressure in the circuit, and a dump valve (64) for dumping hydraulic pressure from the circuit. |
