Propellant charge for tubular weapon with main and transfer charges

Tubular weapon includes a main charge (3) which burns normally at about 21 deg C, slower at lower temperatures and faster at higher temperatures. A transfer charge (5) is provided, which exhibits opposite characteristics to the main charge, i.e. burns faster at lower temperatures. Preferably, the max. gas pressure level off the propellant charge (1) when initiated through the transfer charge is approximately constant at any temperature between -40 deg C and +40 deg C. The transfer charge preferably consists of porous propellant charge powder containing air inclusions. The inverse burning characteristic may be induced by incorporation of spherical nitroguanidine or diatomaceous earth.
