<p>A large number of tunnel diodes (4) interspaced away from the road edges (2,3) are used to return signals sent by a transmitter (6) in the vehicle (5), the signals being returned at a different frequency than the one at which they were sent from the vehicle. The returned signals are picked up by receivers (7,8) in the vehicle and processed by a computer in the vehicle in order to calculate the distance of the vehicle from the road edges, this information being converted into an image seen by the driver. An Independent claim is also included for the road edge marking system used to carry out this method.</p> |
