<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based ink improved in both the water resistance and settability of printed matter, useful for ink jet printing use, comprising a suspension of a specific polyester-polyamide with dye or pigment adsorbed to. SOLUTION: This water-based ink is obtained by the following process: a polyester-polyamide 3-100KOHmg/g in acid value is first prepared by copolycondensation between a diol component of the formula (R is a lower alkyl; A is an alkylene; (x) and (y) are each an integer of >=1; (x+y) is 2-7 on average)[e.g. polyoxypropylene(2.2)-2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane], at least one kind of acid component such as a polycarboxylic acid (e.g. fumaric acid), its acrid anhydride and/or its lower alkyl ester, and an amine derivative (e.g. 6-aminocaproic acid); the polyester-polyamide is then added, together with a dye or pigment, to a solvent followed by addition of a neutralizing agent to ionize the carboxyl groups in the polyester-polyamide followed by addition of water and then distilling off the solvent to effect phase inversion into aqueous phase.</p> |
