PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag for an assistant seat in which an occupant body ranging from an upper half part of the body to a lower half part of the body can be positively protected only by applying a quite easy sewing to it. SOLUTION: This is an air bag 20 to be used in an air bag device for an assistant seat installed at an upper part 11a of an instrument panel, wherein there are provided first base cloth 21 arranged at a wind shield glass 19 and formed with an opening 23 and a second base cloth 22 arranged at a side of occupant 30, outer edges of the first base cloth and the second base cloth are sawn to form an upper sewing line 24, both side sewing lines 25 and a lower sewing line 26. During expansion and development of the air bag, a part near the upper sewing line is abutted against the wind shield glass, the side sewing line shows substantially the same inclination angle as that of the front part of the instrument panel. The first base cloth and the second base cloth are sawn partially at a location between the opening and the lower sewing line with a sewing thread. In addition, when the air bag is expanded and developped, the sewing thread partially forming the sewing part is cut. |
