PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain water resistance of an ink-jet recording image without causing thickening of paint in a development layer and deterioration of development capacity by incorporating a cationic polymer into base paper becoming a substrate. SOLUTION: A recording image is made water resistant by reacting a radical such as -SO3 Na and -SO3 H contained in the molecules of water-soluble direct dye and water-soluble acidic dye incorporated in ink-jet recording ink with a cationic polymer which is distributed wholly and uniformly in the inside of base paper and forming water-insoluble salt. A stain of an ink-jet recording image and reduction in density of an image in the case of being wetted by water are controlled. Further, better effect is obtained by using base paper in which Steckigt sizing degree is <=1 second as a substrate.
