PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous filter having self-standing property or shape holding property and having a larger filtering area and various excellent characteristics as a filter. SOLUTION: A powder thermoplastic plastic material such as an ultrahigh mol.wt. polyethylene having 5 to 90μm average particle diameter, preferably 10 to 60μm is compacted and sintered into a single layer or multilayer structure to obtain a porous and cylindrical hollow plastic filter 1. Outside bent parts 2a on the outer periphery of a barrel and inner bent parts 2b on the inner periphery of the barrel are alternately arranged to form pleats around a barrel wall 3 or on almost half of the wall. The contact angle of at least one side of the barrel with water is controlled to >=60 deg..
