PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly and effectively comprehend the structure of data for a programmer by inputting a program and visually displaying the hierarchical relation of structure of data used in that program, arrangement and occupied range on a storage area. SOLUTION: When a user double clicks the data item of a data structure diagram while using a mouse pointer, a new window 610 is opened. In this window 610, various kinds of information provided for that data item are displayed. Based on this information, the program can be updated. When the user corrects a data item name F32 into T32 and performs the instruction of updating, for example, this is detected by a display control part and based on the change data, the program can be updated. The respective data items displayed in a window 603 can be variously colored according to various attributes and various coloring can be performed according to a type 623 or a level 611 of data items.
