PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove an odor from an air and eliminate the need for replacement of an adsorbent. SOLUTION: An ultraviolet beam is emitted to a photocatalyst borne by the active carbon of an adsorptive filter 30 by an ultraviolet lamp 58, and an odor component which is difficult to be adsorbed by the active carbon, is decomposed by oxidation by the photocatalyst. In addition, an air is sent under pressure into the active carbon so that the odor component is adsorbed by the active carbon. Consequently, the odor component of the air is removed and the odor-free air is conducted into a vehicle. When the adsorption efficiency of the active carbon is deteriorated due to the saturation of the active carbon, the blowing of the air from the turboblower 42 is suspended. This procedure results in the soaring of temperatures of the photocatalyst and the adsorbent and the subsequent regeneration of the adsorbent. Further, the photocatalyst is activated to decompose the odor component adsorbed into the active carbon. Thus it is possible to remove the odor component using the active carbon over a long period of time. |
