A device for mechanically mounting a flexible cable (20) in a cylindrical sleeve (21), including an axially split connector (23) with at least two helical external threads (30) and internal projections (31). The cylindrical sleeve (21) has a screw thread (27) engageable with the external threads on the connector. The cable is mounted by axially snapping the connector into the sleeve then axially inserting the cable. The cable may be disconnected by unscrewing the connector. The internal projections (31) and the engagement between the threads and the screw thread are operable to prevent axial pulling-out of the cable. The device is useful for mounting high-voltage cables in a high-voltage transformer.
