<p>A clutch/transmission control system continues to monitor clutch temperature after an ignition switch 41 has been deactivated. The system determines, as a function of time, and stores at least one temperature, the system automatically deactivates after this temperature has been reached or exceeded. Various sensors, for example a gear recognition sensor 31, a shifting intent sensor 32, RPM sensors 33, 35, 8a and throttle valve sensor 34 supply information to the control system whose electronics are incorporated in an actuator 15. Actuator 15 comprises an electric motor 19 which activates piston 20 of master cylinder 16 so that the clutch may be engaged/disengaged via conduit 17 and slave cylinder 18. The temperature may be calculated by the control system, eg by considering the heat flow into the clutch or into its pressure plate, or it may be ascertained from operational parameters such as engine oil temperature, cooling water temperature etc.</p> |
