This invention concerns a weather seal designed for such purposes as for installation around motor vehicle door openings and to enter into contact with a sliding window pane. It comprises a seal made out of rubber, plastic or a similarly elastic material with a substantially U-shaped channel section (1), in which the window pane can be positioned, and a dorsal section designed to fit into the housing provided for that purpose in the door of the motor vehicle. When the weather seal is positioned in the door groove, the bottom of the channel (1) forms a fold in transverse section, protruding into the interior of the "U"-shaped channel (1), causing the edge of the window pane to rest against the crest (15) of the said fold (14).
