Process and apparatus for injection moulding and composite material produced thereby

For the injection moulding of a composite material, reinforcement fibres are within a thermosetting resin, such as of polyethylene, for injection into a mould (5,6) in bulk, where a reinforcement (11) has been laid in the mould. The reinforcement is for a sheet mould compound (SMC) or the injected material is a bulk mould compound (BMC), which compresses the reinforcement during thermosetting. Also claimed is an apparatus with at least one feed (20) of SMC material near the mould, for insertion into the opened mould.
