PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for a linear compressor which can be small- sized and lightweight, with a high degree of accuracy. SOLUTION: A computation control device 7 in a computer 5 differentiates a current (i) running from an inverter 30 to a linear motor of a linear compressor 30 and detected by a current detecting device 4 and multiplies thus differentiated value with a predetermined inductance value in order to compute a voltage generated in a wave shaping coil imaginarily connected in series with the linear motor. Further, the computation control device 7 controls the inverter 3 so that the output voltage (e) of the inverter 3 corresponds to a value which is obtained by subtracting thus computed value Lc di/dt from an instruction voltage (es ) delivered from a voltage instructing part 6.
