FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to construction of ground surface buildings and structures and can be used for ensuring protection of light-passing openings of buildings and structures located in zones of expected explosions in case of breakdowns and catastrophes. Protective shields can be used both as individual units and for protection of glazed openings. This is achieved by embodying protective shield in the form of flat double-span frame made of angle members. Attached to outer side of frame is insert grate of foam plastic, lined at both sides with sheets of armored organic glass. Frame is installed on supporting liners made of pliable material and hung on pieces of wire of ductile metal which are vertical and over ends at supports. These metal pieces are inserted through holes in horizontal members of frame and through passages in lengths of metal pipes. Passages in lengths of metal pipes are filled with sealing made of pliable material. Connection of frame and attachment of metal pipe lengths to vertical angle-shape members above lower and below upper horizontal members of frame is effected by means of angle-shape fixing members and connecting bolts.
