摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently provide rapid speed change responsiveness required for a manual speed change mode by executing through suppression of slow speed change control of an automatic transmission when a manual speed change mode is selected. SOLUTION: The output of an engine 10 is inputted to an automatic transmission 14 through a torque converter 12. An electronic control device for speed change decides the speed of the automatic transmission 14 based on a non-linear control demand opening and a car speed from a speed change diagram. The speed change width of down shift detected by a speed change width detecting means 94 is increased to a value higher than a given value. In this case, it is detected by a manual speed change mode detecting means 90 that a manual speed change mode is selected by the automatic transmission 14 or it is detected by an ascending slope running detecting means 92 that a vehicle is under running on an ascending slope. In this case, slow speed change control of the automatic transmission 14 by the speed change control means 96 is executed by suppressing by at least a given ratio by a slow speed change suppression control means 97.
