<p>A data packet handling system is provided for receiving a sequence of data packets where the first packet (EMM-G) includes coding identifying one or more of the following packets (EMM-S) as required by the system. Following receipt of the first packet (201), all subsequent packets are buffered (202, 203) whilst the first is analysed (204-6) to determine which, if any, of the following packets are required. Having made the determination, the subsequent packets are read out of the buffer (207) and those not required are discarded. The system has particular application to the handling of entitlement messages for encrypted audio/video signal broadcasts.</p> |
