PURPOSE: To provide a card connector having a surface contact which has a contact protected without being exposed when a lid body is opened. CONSTITUTION: A plate protecting member 8 is provided between a base body 6 and a lid body 7, and a groove part 18A and/or window part 18B extending through the plate thickness direction is formed at least in a position corresponding to the contact part 5A of a contact 5 on the protecting member 8. The protecting member 8 is movable between a first position and a second position according to the opening and closing of the lid body 7, the first position is a position where the contact part 4a is recessed in the groove part 18A and/or window part 18B in the opened state of the lid body 7, and the second position is a position where the contact part 5a is protruded from the groove part 18A and/or window part 18B so as to make contact with the circuit part of a card S in the closed state of the lid body 7.
