Sulfosuccinates are produced by reacting dimerdiols, trimertriols and/or their technical mixtures with maleic acid or maleic anhydride in the absence of organic solvents and then sulfiting and neutralizing the resulting monoesters or diesters. These products are characterized by good solubility, ecological tolerability and great stability vis-à-vis chromic residues from tanning, salts and changes in pH value and are therefore particularly well-suited for use in fur and leather conditioners. Because of their easy solubility in water and good flow properties they can also be used to produce detergents, rinses and cleaners as well as hair-care and body-care products.
