<p>Ski apparatus with two outer skis (11, 12) and a third ski (13), located between the two outer skis, coupled to the outer skis by four cranks connected as front (23, 24) and rear pairs (21, 22). Each crank has a gear (31) on one end and a free end (26). A crank free end is attached to a journal box (203) on an outer ski, permitting free rotation of the crank. The gear (31) of a crank from an outer ski (11) meshes with the gear (32) of a crank from the other outer ski (12). The gears from each pair are contained in a gearbox on the third ski. In one embodiment, the journal box is slidably attached to the ski, permitting the ski to move longitudinally relative to the journal box, and allowing longitudinal motion of the skis relative to one another. In another embodiment, bindings are attached to the third ski by a linkage (101, 102, 103), allowing vertical movement of the bindings relative to the third ski, and allowing canting of the apparatus without the bindings interfering with the outer skis.</p> |
