The present invention provides a process for making poly(phenylene oxide) polymers. The process includes (a) contacting a phenol monomer with a catalyst capable of catalyzing the polymerization of the phenol monomer, and a polymerization medium including carbon dioxide; and (b) polymerizing the monomer. The polymerization medium may include gaseous, liquid, or supercritical carbon dioxide. |
