Image quality improving method for image output devices

The method comprises the steps of inputting low resolution image information made available by an image output device and isolating a pixel to be converted and a number of surrounding pixels (P). The matrix of highly resolved pixels which replace the pixel to be converted is determined. The detected pixel pattern of low resolution is compared with a first set of predefined low resolution pixel patterns each of which is associated with a matrix of highly resolved pixels. A comparison is also made with a second set of pixel patterns of low resolution which is formed from an inversion of the first set.
