PURPOSE: To reduce an arithmetic quantity and a circuit scale while maintaining the detection rate of a motion vector. CONSTITUTION: A motion vector detecting circuit searches for moving vectors horizontally and vertically at points 0-3, i.e., 16 points in total. Data of a process microblock are made parallel through a serial-parallel converting circuit 86 and further a data holding circuit 88 holds the data for a microblock period. In a PE circuit 89, each PE calculates a difference absolute value at each sampling time by time slots, and an integrating circuit 90 adds difference absolute values of 16 samples generated between a process microblock and one candidate microblock to calculate a difference absolute value. A minimum selecting circuit 91 selects a motion vector whose calculated difference absolute value becomes minimum. |
