<p>The device for producing a counterweight on adjustable components is distinguished by an essentially vertical pneumatic piston/cylinder system (1) having at least one through-opening (11) in the upper end wall (12) of the cylinder (6) for the piston rod (3) and an air passage, the piston consisting of a plurality of disc weights (2) which are separated from one another and are each effectively connected to one another by means of a section (3') of a cord which forms the piston rod (3) and whose free end, guided over deflection means (4), is intended to engage on the component (5).
