<p>The torque transfer point detection, for a friction clutch (5) operated by a setting drive (7), between a vehicle engine (1) and transmission (3), uses a r.p.m. sensor signal, a clutch position sensor signal and a signal representing the travel parameters. A data memory (13) holds clutch control data representing the actual clutch engagement point which can be updated in dependence on the detected engine r.p.m. The max amplitude of the engine r.p.m. overrun upon clutch engagement is used to allow the data held in the memory (13) to be corrected.
