Ladle for molten metal comprising a glass-cement outer shell 18, refractory linings 20, 22 and trunnions 30. The ladle is transparent to a wide range of electromagnetic radiation wavelengths which allows the metal to be heated or stirred by induction without heating the ladle itself. As the ladle is made of glass fibre and an inorganic cement, strength is provided along with high temperature resistance.
