PURPOSE: To achieve primary electrification free of irregularities and to improve cleaning performance by turning on the output of a destaticization/separation means even in the soil prevention mode of a contact transfer member, and destaticizing a photoreceptor and toner by means of AC discharge. CONSTITUTION: In an image forming process, the photoreceptor 7 is rotated in the direction shown by the arrow. In the direction of the rotation, around the photoreceptor 7 are an electrifying member 1 and then a developing device 2, followed by the roller-like contact transfer member 3 as a charge application member of a contact type, the transfer-paper decitaticization/separation means 4, a cleaner 5 for the photoreceptor 7, an optical decitaticization means 6, etc., arranged in that order. The decitaticization/separation means 4 carries out AC discharge, and the output of the AC discharge by the means 4 is turned on in the soil prevention mode of the contact transfer member 3. Therefore, even in case the photoreceptor 7 is electrified to a polarity that is opposite an ordinary polarity by the contact transfer member 3, it is brought into a state of not being electrified from the state of being electrified, by the use of the destaticization/separation means 4. |
