PURPOSE: To improve the Japanese syllabary (KANA)/Chinese character (KANJI) conversion efficiency of a user by improving the effect of learning for compound word conversion. CONSTITUTION: When an input sentence is inputted from a keyboard 1 to a clause partition processing part 4, the clause partition processing part 4 partitions the input sentence into clauses and extracts the partitioned clauses. After it is judged whether these clauses can become a compound word or not, a command for judging whether converting the input sentence to the compound word or not is outputted to a compound word converting instruction output part 9. The compound word converting instruction output part 9 judges whether the frequency of compound conversion recorded in a compound word conversion generating frequency storage part 7 exceeds a reference value stored in a compound word conversion priority reference table 8 or not and outputs an instruction showing whether performing the compound word conversion or not to the clause partition processing part 4. Based on the instruction from the compound word converting instruction output part 9, the clause partition processing part 4 performs the compound word conversion or ordinary conversion by using conversion candidates provided by retrieving a KANA/KANJI dictionary 6 through a dictionary retrieving part 5. |
