摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To suppress an increase of production processes and an increase of the cost and to realize a wide visual field angle. CONSTITUTION: A chiral nematic liquid crystal layer 1 is held between an array substrate 1 having pixel electrodes 2 and thin-film transistors disposed in a matrix form and a counter substrate 7 having a counter electrode 9. Liquid crystal molecules are twisted approximately 90 deg. between the array substrate 1 and the counter substrate 7 and are so oriented as to be accompany with spray deformation from the array substrate 1 toward the counter substrate 7 at the time of non-impression of voltage. The pixel electrodes 2 are provided with striped pixel electrode lacking parts 6 on their diagonal lines and the angle formed by the rubbing direction of the array substrate side and these pixel electrode lacking parts 6 is specified to 10 deg.. Since the pixel electrode lacking parts 6 are formable at the time of forming the pixel electrodes 2, liquid crystal molecule orientation is regulated in two directions varying by 180 deg. by utilizing the electric field distortion generated near the pixel electrode lacking parts 6 without increasing the production processes and the visual field angle which is approximately symmetrical in a vertical direction and is free from gradation inversion is thus realized.</p>
