PURPOSE: To allow a processing means to conduct the processing corresponding to a set communication speed by communicating multi-media information through a line depending on a communication speed of a communication means. CONSTITUTION: A master equipment 1 is a personal computer or the like and processes multi-media information and conducts processing of the information such as coding, compression and multiplexing. A modem 9 is connected to an external interface 8 and sends data received from the master equipment 1 to a line such as a public line under the control of the master equipment 1 and outputs a data received from the line to the master equipment 1. The master equipment 1 sends multi-media information via the line according to a communication speed of the communication means. In the case of making multi-media communication by utilizing the public line or the like, when the communication at a highest control means speed of the modem 9 is not made due to a wrong line state, a warning is raised to the operator. Thus, a fear about a fault of the equipment is not given to the operator. |
