PURPOSE: To provide an image display device whose sagittal aberration is excellently compensated by determining the aspherical degree. CONSTITUTION: This optical system is arranged between a one-dimensional image signal generator P and a reflector 2 in oder to form/observe a two-dimensional image by means of the vibration of the reflector 2 arranged between the one-dimensional image signal generator P and the eyes E of an operator, composed of two convex lenses of a first lens L1 and a second lens L2 in order from the side of eyes and, by representing a whole focal distance by (f), the focal distance of the first lens L1 by f1 the focal distance of the second lens L2 by f2 and an interval between the rear principal point of the first lens L1 and the front principal point of the second lens L2 by A. the relations: 0.45<f/f1 <0.65, 0.45<Δ/f<0.65 are satisfied.
