This welding electrode is characterised in that the welding end-piece 3 of the electrode body 1 carries a contact end 4 which is fixed to it by brazing. Thus, it is possible very easily to replace this contact end by stopping the flow of cooling water in the electrodes, by applying them to a resistive metal sheet and by causing them to pass a current of strength sufficient to melt the brazing ring 5 which fixes the contact end 4 of the welding end-piece 3. The removal of a worn end 4 and the fitting of a new end 4 are carried out in the same way. The invention also relates to a contact end 4 provided with a brazing ring 5, as well as an automatic operating machine for replacing the ends 4 away from the line for welding the metal sheets T.
