PURPOSE: To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery having a large capacity. CONSTITUTION: This nonaqueous secondary battery is constituted of a positive electrode capable of charging and discharging, organic electrolyte, and a negative electrode mainly made of carbonaceous material as an active material. Pitch is heat-treated at 380-430 deg.C, refined, separated, and extracted to obtain mesophase small spherical bodies, which are carbonized with the temperature rising speed of 0.1-30 deg.C/hr to the final ultimate temperature of 700-2800 deg.C to obtain carbide, and this carbide is used for the active material of the negative electrode of the nonaqueous secondary battery. |
