PURPOSE: To substitute a specific character string only in the position, which a user intends, out of plural positions where the specific character string exists in a document. CONSTITUTION: When a substitution object character string ('priority' in the figure) is designated and substitution is indicated, the substitution object character string is retrieved from a document 42. If the substitution object character string is retrieved in plural positions, a substitution indication window 40 is displayed, and plural sample character strings each of which consists of the retrieved substitution object character string and a character string existing at least before or after it (character strings constituting single rows including the substitution object character string in the figure) are displayed in a sample character string display area 40A. When execution/non-execution of substitution is indicated to each sample character string, only substitution object character strings included in sample character strings to which execution or substitution is indicated are substituted with a substitute character string ('priority order' in the figure). |
