<p>The instrument, esp. for treating varicose veins, has a handle (10) and a working tip (20) which can be inserted in an incision in a body member. The tip is connected by a rod (21) to the handle and has a hook-shaped end (22) with a free edge (222) at its distal end. The hook has a rounded cross-section to avoid damage to tissues in contact with it, and its thickness increases from its proximal end to its distal end, forming a recess (23) which can receive and retain a pathological vein. The handle (10) has a mark or recess (11) to indicate the position of the hook when the latter is inserted into an incision, and it can have surface irregularities for an improved grip. The instrument can be made from a single piece of metal, moulded from plastic, or made from metal with plastic over-moulding, depending on whether it is disposable or not.</p> |
