The mechanism consists of an attachment loop (4), which is connected to a chain, and which can be hooked around, and unhooked from, an attachment bolt fixed to a container or similar object. The bolt has a widened head along one diameter, and the loop has a keyhole opening (7), which has a corresponding increased diameter along a first axis (A), through which the bolt can pass. The loop also has a narrow, elongated securing hole (9) whose width corresponds to the diameter of the bolt, and whose longitudinal axis (B) is perpendicular to the first axis, and whose extension beyond the keyhole, meets the chain connection point (5). The shape of the head of the bolt, and of the keyhole, may also approximate to a rhombus.
