Disclosed is a process and a device for producing paper webs that are coated on both sides, in particular LWC papers, within a papermaking machine. First, one side of the paper web (1) is coated in a first coating station (8) and then dried. After that, the other side of the paper web (1) is coated in a second coating station (25) and then dried. Each coating station (8, 25) comprises an applicator roller (10), a mating roller (11) and, mounted at the applicator roller, an applicator mechanism (13) for indirect coating of the paper web. A flat roll doctor is used to meter the coating slip on the applicator roller (10). The coated paper web (1) is glazed using on-line glazing rollers (60).
